What are Things? / What Things can I locate?
The many different devices and accessories available from LocateMyThings.com can be used to locate many different things such as:
- Children & People
- Pets
- Caravans and Trailers
- Home visiting workers - e.g. Engineers, Nursing, Care workers and Estate Agents
- Vulnerable People / Disabled People
- High Value Assets
However, the devices and service can be used for so much more!
Imagine the following simple scenarios:
- Mum and Dad's Taxi - Your daughter is on night out in Liverpool and takes the smallest LocateMyThings device that fits easily into a pocket or handbag. Using the 'Action' buttons on the device, when she is ready for pick up she presses the button on the device and Dad is texted with the location and a message!
- Lost my Pet - no more Lost Pet photo-copies stuck to trees - you can start looking in the last location you had an update from.
- Lone Workers - a lone worker gets into trouble visiting a home and presses the ‘SOS' button. The Lone Workers office and/ or security firm can be alerted with the location and they can then dial into the LocateMyThings device and listen into the situation remotely. Action can then be taken accordingly and if necessary additional resources sent to the location. All this, without any obvious action on the part of the Lone Worker.
- Vulnerable person in the community - a person from a residential home or school may be given time out in the community but given a curfew time and an area to visit - staff at the home can monitor the whereabouts and know where they are if they are a little late.
- Children at school - some younger children may be slightly more inclined to escape the confines of their school and in this case special belts, bags or coat compartments can contain the LocateMyThings device. If your child strays out of the virtual 'geo-fence' setup around the school then teaching staff are alerted and the child quickly recovered.
- Engineer or Plumber - For small businesses who have perhaps 2 or 3 staff, it is important for administrators to efficiently book the next job that comes in...who is near this emergency job? Without having to phone around you can quickly find who is nearest the emergency job and act accordingly.
We could go on for pages and pages about the different scenarios this service and devices can be applied to, however if you can think of a unique way to use the service and purchase one of our devices and register for an account then we will publish your story on the web site and give you a special thankyou gift to boot!

"We have been using the 'Locatemything' tracker unit for a while now. It is attached to my 80 year old dad's keys, and my mum charges it up at night, at the same as her phone. I'd recommend it. Get the idea aired wih the carer early in the course of Alzheimers, and don't leave implementing it until its too late for technology to be useful." Dr Sam Oddie, West Yorkshire |
