Large Enterprise

Large Enterprises typically want to track large numbers of GPS devices and PDA's - this means that the standard LocateMyThings subscription model may not be financially efficient for a single entity wanting to potentially manage >500 devices. It is also likely a Large Enterprise has a dedicated IT support team and may even have their own IT infrastructure capable of hosting their own business critical applications.

For this purpose LocateMyThings.com have two solutions for your Large Enterprise:

  1. LocateMyThings.com Software as a Service (SaaS) - the solution is hosted and maintained on LocateMyThings.com High Availability Datacentre.
  2. LocateMyThings.com Installed Application - the solution is installed by our engineers on your network and supported and maintained remotely by the LocateMyThings support team.

Both options above allow your Enterprise to have its own logo's, domain name, SSL certificate and colour scheme to be presented when arriving at the site.

The cost of such a Large Enterprise solution is very much dependent on how large an operation is and what you want from the system as you may want just the dashboard or a complete integration of the system with other business critical applications. Typical costs will include a setup charge covering the build of the site in your logo's and colours, an ongoing support and/ or hosting charge plus a per device tracked monthly license fee.

A typical LocateMyThings.com Dashboard only Large Enterprise SaaS service is as follows:

  • £5,000 + vat Setup, Design, SSL Certificate and Domain Name
  • £4,000 + vat annual hosting and support (includes SSL cert and domain name renewal charges)
  • £1.50 + vat / month / per device tracked

The charges above are an example only and you must also allow for a GoogleMaps Premier API Key which costs £7,700 per year for 800 GPS units tracked, which works out at roughly 80p / month/ device (correct @ 1st September 2009) - this key is required if you use the GoogleMaps service as part of a non-public professional offering. All SMS charges would also be an additional charge which must be borne by your company.

LocateMyThings.com provide both a Webservice and HTTP POST service for linking your business critical applications to our dashboard - this enables your software to set various functions on the device via a simple webservice call and your software can also be notified of various events directly via the LocateMyThings.com outgoing webservice.

The Webservice currently supports the following technologies:

  • Microsoft(c) .NET
  • Java
  • PHP
  • Any software product able to make and receive HTTP POST requests.

I'd Recommend It

"We have been using the 'Locatemything' tracker unit for a while now. It is attached to my 80 year old dad's keys, and my mum charges it up at night, at the same as her phone. I'd recommend it. Get the idea aired wih the carer early in the course of Alzheimers, and don't leave implementing it until its too late for technology to be useful."
